Stan's "Weakly" Challenge #4 - Heel Hold on Stairs
Dedicated to making you stronger!
Can you hold your heels up with your forefeet on a step?
If not you are at a higher risk for injuries to the calf, Achilles tendon, and plantar fascia. This weakness can also predispose you to backward falls. This activity should only be attempted with a hand rail for safety. With shoes off, back up on a step while holding the rail. Maintain the heels slightly higher than the forefeet. Do not back up to a point in which you can not support the heels as this will place you at a risk for injury. If easy, how about on one leg? An A+ for anyone that can hold up their heels with only the toes on the step.
